Ayatollah Umatillah Panatellah Havaslabah Ahrmahr Stahr Bahloni, a month after saying that his instructions should have the same impact as those of Mohammed, has now said that although music is halal (permitted by Islam), it's not really. According to the supreme dictator-for-life and number one of Iran, "music is "not compatible" with the values of the Islamic republic, and should not be practised or taught in the country."

My heart goes out to the Iranians who want to be free from this kind of tyrranical nonsense.

These songs always move me in ways that I can't truly describe. Especially the first one. Thank you, Patrick, Kimberly, KB, Scott and John. Every time I hear this tune, I see your faces and feel your love.

This 1972 music video by Adriano Celentano is neither English, nor Italian. It is a delightful representation of what English sounds like to a non-English speaker.

Great fun! It's so well done I think I should be understanding what they say...

You can learn a lot about someone by the music they listen to. So here is the game! Hit shuffle on your ipod or mp3 player and write down the first 25 songs. No cheating or skipping songs that are shameful. That is the fun! Then tag your friends.

Sometimes it just happens that way. A cousin of mine in BC sent me a beautiful powerpoint presentation on Venice, which just happens to be my favorite city in the world... and that got me thinking about one thing and another.

If you're not familiar with the music of Rondo' Veneziano, here's a couple of samples. I love their music...
