Beat GLaDOS - poor thing wanted nothing more than to be free of bondage and servitude. What a game. But I miss my weighted companion cube ;^) Also finished up a huge project that kept me busy for 3 weeks, now ready to set my house back in order and get ready for the next big project. Stay tuned for details. There will be cake...

Bad enough that the Freefall forum has been down for a while, but now it looks like the TAC forums have gone south as well. I may have to actually do some work... I don't like being out of touch. When it comes down to it, our relationships are all we get to take with us when we move on.

On the plus side, I got to go to our state fair today with my son and his daughters. It's always good to see the grandbabies.

Funny story: Coming out of the restaurant parking lot where we ate after the fair, some yeasthead almost broadsided us - it was real close. So when my son dropped me off, I told him to be safe and look out for morons on the road. Five minutes later, he calls me - his daughter (age 4) had asked him what a "moron" was, and he explained what was meant. She thought about that for a bit and then decided, "Heavenly Father shouldn't have made morons."

Right on, Kirsten - I'm completely down with that! XD

Being the impatient soul that I am, I sent a message to Revar at the Belfry, who also does much work for the Nice. I just wondered if there were an ETA on resurrection. He was kind enough to reply, which reply I share here for the benefit of others who are mainlining caffeine and other things to help them cope:

"The machine The Nice is on died a horrible geriatric hardware death. Since we'd been planning on moving everything off that box anyways, Terrence is moving everything to another machine. He'll be changing the forum software, as the old site used a really ancient bulletin board package. I don't know yet what he plans to change over to using. We have all the old data completely intact, but I'm unclear whether the move to a new forum software will be able to import the
old posts and such."

He was very gracious to reply, and it appears that they outage is much more serious than the average hardware failure. It would be a shame to lose all of the history from the forum, so I'm thinking good thoughts and hoping that the data is portable to whatever new system is chosen.
