Ozzie mates, help me make heads & tails of Doc Rat.

What critter is this, and why the fascination with water? I am drawing a total blank on this one.

Furthermore, this one has got me going as well. I get the general gist of "stuff all", but I can't seem to find any other uses for it.

Today's Walk - 11.5 miles, 1678 foot rise.

Instead of walking from home, today I drove up the canyon to the end of the road (40°49'31.58"N, 111°47'26.82"W) and purposed to walk as far into the canyon as I was able.
