Pursuant to
secoh's latest post (elsewhere known as SteamWolf), here's a chronicle of his rescue on Stockton Beach near Newcastle.
We were out exploring the dunes - unfortunately the LandRover he had borrowed from his da was overheating (it
was 43°C in the shade) so we didn't get to do a lot of 4-wheeling. Still, it was an interesting day.
We started off by letting the air out of his tires to a pressure of 12 psi, to improve traction. The road down to the beach was narrow and bumpy, sometimes only wide enough for one vehicle. Almost had a fender-scraper as one guy tried to get past us.
We came across this poor guy stuck up to his bumper on the side of a dune:

Fortunately, SteamWolf had a snatch strap in his vehicle, and was able to get the fellow unstuck. I was mortally afraid that because of his relative angle, the only thing that we were going to accomplish was tip his trailer over, and chronicled the event just in case it turned out as FailBlog material. Fortunately, the effort was successful.
I examined a memorial in the beach - sadly, when people go out doing extreme things, accidents happen. SteamWolf is visible in the distance, he had just finished taking a whiz in the bushes, oops sorry did I say that out loud? Haha!

SteamWolf, don't forget to email me that pic from the opposite viewpoint!
