Writer's Block: Critical mass
[Error: unknown template qotd]
In days gone by, criticism was like poison to my damaged soul. I remember at the age of five, adopting the mantra "I do what I please and I please what I do!" Later, this was distilled down to a more concise " you!" These were part of my stone fortress, my way of keeping myself from being hurt again.
you!" These were part of my stone fortress, my way of keeping myself from being hurt again.
Life has been much better since I learned the nature of feedback. If one person calls me an ass, it's just feedback - and says more about them than it does about me. If six people call me an ass, it may be time to buy a saddle.
Feedback is neither positive or negative - it's just information; the good news is that I'm at choice, and can use that feedback to examine myself and see if there's anything I can do to move my life forward.
So nowadays, my response of choice is, "Thank you for the feedback. I look forward to receiving more!"
