Happy Mothers' Day

Just got back from a very pleasant afternoon with mum at Salt Lake's only 5-star hotel, the Grand America. They put on two marvelous buffets, and as we had no reservations for the main dining room, we chose the Garden Café. I think we ended up with the better choice. It was a beautiful day, we didn't have to wait a second, and had a beautiful table by a sunny garden window.
The food was in-SANE.

Buffet plate, one of several.
Their buffet had things on it I had never dreamed of before - espresso-encrusted medallions of pork, a concoction of grits with ham that transported me into paroxysms of bliss, prime rib, roast turkey, countless side dishes, antipasti, and more salads and desserts than I could count.

For mum, who will be 93 in November, it was a wonderful day on the town. I'm glad I could give her this joy.

Happy Mum
To all mothers both present and past, including the blessed mother of Mogg, by whose silken breast I swear I will repent of such gastronomic excesses - at least until next week - I wish a wonderful, warm and fulfilling Mothers' Day and many more to come.
