The Death of a Monster

... and they did. It took almost 10 years, but those responsible for defending our security - and that of others around the world, whether or not they choose to acknowledge it - can now truly say, "Mission Accomplished."

Before people begin to heap too much praise on the current administration, it should be noted that this has been an ongoing operation. Four years ago a key Bin Laden courier was identified by detainees; the credit for this success goes to our indefatigable armed forces and intelligence operatives for their tenacity and faithfulness.

The fight against terror is not over, but one of the world's most evil abominations has gone to his reward, and it is a day for reflection and rejoicing. In a very small way, justice has been done in the name of all those who lost their lives or were affected by the events of September 11, 2001.

And we will still never forget.

9-11-2009: Never forget (for public consumption)

Let us never forget the horror of this day, and the motivation of those who perpetrated it. To them I say, "You scratched us, and we bled. We became stronger than ever. You and your cause shall never prevail, and you shall be hunted to the ends of the earth. You unleashed hell, and its jaws shall gape after you forever. We shall not rest until you have been wiped off the face of the planet."

Let us never forget.
