People Entirely Too Anal

Like New York's carriages around Central Park, Salt Lake also has a fleet of horse-drawn carriages to take tourists around the city center. They're popular with visitors and wedding parties.

The other day, a horse got spooked and took the carriage for a wild ride until it finally crashed into a parked car. Damage: none. Injuries: none.

Now PETA has is asking Salt Lake to ban these carriages completely.

Oh, for the love of Mogg! There are many things in the world that we should be outraged about. This is pretty insignificant on a global scale, but it irritates me no end that organizations like PETA and the ACLU spend their time suing people for things that have no real significance.

Just letting off some steam, here...

I can think of no better example than PETA of a group whose emotions get in the way of longer-term thinking.

What thinking?

Have any PITA (let's get the spelling right) members volunteered to pull the carriages themselves?

I wonder if I should work a dung bag into a gag to tease WP in CTC?

I'm laughing just at the thought. Oh, yes, please. Image

I wonder how many of those people are just jealous because the horses have jobs!

Those lucky, lucky horses...

(Plus, they get to go out and meet people. Meanwhile, I haven't been out of the house since that one party in Georgia!)

They should install emergency stopping brakes for the next time a horse gets spooked.
A couple of 12-bore ones by the drivers seat.....

Else a panic button to drop the shafts, and detonate an "emergency brake" in the blinkers 30 seconds later.
