The Weird Book Room

Abebooks, with whom I have an ongoing relationship, just sent me an email inviting me to check out their Weird Book Room.

After perusing the titles listed there, I have to say, yes, yes it is. Very.

Oh man. The Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories??

But the lack of zombie-related titles is somewhat disappointing.

Most of these aren't really weird to me, just niche players. How to Good-bye Depression is plain enough in subject matter; only the verbing is unorthodox, and the author name leads me to suspect Engrish. But The Platypus of Doom and Other Nihilists is weird on purpose.

Moi aussi from Abebooks.co.uk.....
The book on hanging seems interesting.... I recall a book by someone who'd worked as an executioner. The Home Office had a list of acceptable operatives and would send them a message telling them when they were required....

The Newgate calendar (3 vols Panther books!) lists one practitioner who ended up strung up.....
Strung up / twisted / turned off / dancing the Tyburn jig.....
plenty of slang terms from the 18/19th century Tyburn tree days ....

"How do you know it was haunted?"
"I heard this raspy voice in my ear say, 'Get out!'"
