Bulk Billing

Today's Doc Rat puts me in mind of this conversation overheard in the Aberdeen clinic after Sandy McTavish reported for his annual physical:

Sandy: "So, doctor, about ma urine sample. Color's guid?"
Doctor: "Aye, normal."
Sandy: "Nae bluid?"
Doctor: "Nae, nae bluid."
Sandy: "Nae albumin?"
Doctor: "Nae, protein negative."
Sandy: "pH balance aricht?"
Doctor: "Aye, you're as healthy as a horse."
Sandy: "Can I use yer telephone?"
Doctor: "Aye, drop saxpence in t'box on t'counter."
Sandy: "Hullo, Mary? Guid news! I'm purrr-fectly healthy. And so are ye. And so is Esmerelda. And so is uncle Jock..."

Och, ye hae Scots bluid, hae ye? Ah weel, ye ought to enjoy Canny Tales fae Aberdeen (http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/CannyTales.doc), a little book of Scottish humor which I came by 20 years ago or more, and with modern technology was able to digitize as a Word document (about 2MB).
