The thing I love most about Groundhog day, besides the fact that Spring is not far behind no matter what the little rodent does, is the movie with Bill Murray. It's a gem of a film, with a superb message.

I dunno about the message. I appreciate the values behind it, but if it's an Aesop, it's a Space Whale Aesop.

Nae, that's one that has slipped by me.

I saw this on the list of answers, just so you don't think I'm stalking. :D

I have to agree with the Bill Murray part. I watch that movie on Groundhog's Day every year.

A friend of mine does the same. I would watch it today if I had it. Image

It's Imbolic to me so really I don't think about Groundhog Day until someone brings it up.

As for the movie. I haven't seen it ... maybe I will if I find it in the five dollar movies section at work.

If you have even the slightest romantic spark in your heart, you'll love this film. Knowing it's you, I'll only say stock up on Kleenex™!

From my sources, Imbolc falls on the 1st, not the 2nd.

[identity profile] bayliss.livejournal.com 2010-02-03 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I have always celebrated it on the 2nd as it's Brigid's Day. The Witch I had my year and day with taught me that it was February 2nd. *shrugs* It could be the first for other traditions. I was taught by a Celtic/Norwegian Wiccan.*shrugs again*

Funny thing about Groundhog Day; if the groundhog sees his shadow, it's six more weeks until spring. If he doesn't, it's only six more weeks until spring. Either way, you're going to be spending the next six weeks freezing your cockles and mussels alive-alive-o.

+1 on Groundhog Day :)
