The last warm days of summer
Oct. 8th, 2008 09:37 pmWeather-guesser says some cooler, wetter weather coming our way, so I treated myself to a 9-mile walk up City Creek Canyon today, to enjoy what will probably be one of the last few summer-like evenings in my neck of the woods, especially since I'll be on the road for the next 12 days starting Friday. By the time I get back, it will be getting close to Hallowe'en.
The walk was lovely, and the colors - although past their peak - were still brilliant in spots. First opportunity of the year to rustle my feet through a bed of leaves, and smell the crisp scents of an approaching winter in the fresh mountain air. Many bikers, walkers, joggers, land-skiers in training for the coming season, all had the same idea.
Came home and fixed myself a lovely buffalo steak and some stir-fried veggies for dinner... feeling full, happy and tired, and looking forward to a good rest.
One more day to get ready, then off to San Diego on Friday and should be back home by the 22nd. I will probably be less present online, although I'll have time to look in now and again.
