I feel rather... I feel rather like the man who when asked which organ he would like to keep, said he would like to keep his navel. And when they said "why?", when he said "why"... What's this? When he was asked why, he said, "Because, I have a strange habit. I eat celery in bed... and it's a very convenient place to keep the salt!"
-Gerard Hoffnung at the Oxford Union

The money one might get from selling an organ would be gone before you could say "knife". My body, parts and passions I keep... but I would consider giving away a kidney if it would save a life, particularly of one of my own.

To friends near and far,

An old Chinese curse says, "May you live in interesting times." Some claim that the Chinese never said that, but it pretty well describes 2008 for me. It's been an interesting year.

In February, my companion of 30 years and I chose to go our separate ways. This was an unplanned deviation from the script I had written for my life, and so I had to take some time to re-evaluate my goals and my vision.

In 2006, I began attending a series of personal development seminars run by Klemmer and Associates, and these proved so useful in my life that I spent a good part of this year staffing these events, helping others move their lives forward. Throughout the process, I began thinking of ways I could help as many people as possible live fuller, richer and more productive lives.

Based on my experiences during my own education, I decided to create The Academy of Greatness, a 4-year private preparatory school like no other. Its mission is to graduate students who are keenly aware of their power and potential, and who are willing and able to make a massive difference in the world.

I keep myself busy with several business enterprises; my children and grandchildren are well; I have more friends than I can count; my life is full, and I am grateful.

I wish you all the very best for 2009. Whatever your walk in life, may this season bring you increased strength and insight, and may you have joy and prosperity throughout the coming year.

Stumbled across a website where an artist blended photos of people as children and adults... thought I'd see what it looked like on a subject I know well. The results are interesting:

There's about a 52-year difference...
