Flickr photojournal of my summer adventure on the farm, as well as sights seen to and from. This is a representative sample of the pictures that were taken. Some of the farm shots are courtesy of Mark Stanley.

This took a while to do, but I promised. Enjoy!

Nothing. For me, being a kid bit the wax tadpole, in every possible aspect. School most of all. Now my focus is creating an environment for other kids where it doesn't suck quite so bad.

Now that I'm back from my 5-week odyssey to Green Acres, I've had time to reflect a bit on what I experienced and what I missed during my travels.

I missed seeing my kids and grandkids more often. Family's the most important thing in my life right now - and it was so good to see them when I got back. I still haven't hooked up with my daughter, though, and I don't know where she is. Hope she calls me back soon.

I missed my own bed. It's got a memory-foam mattress that my back just loves. I missed my kitchen where I know where everything is. I missed my broadband internet connection, and my computer where everything I need is at my fingertips. And I missed my gigantor shower head with the water-saver feature disabled. When I shower, I actually get to get wet.

On the other hand, now that I'm back, I miss the daily grind of feeding and caring for the animals. Yeah, it's a lot of work, but it's a nice feeling to know that I'm giving the little beasties what they need. I miss the green, green, green hills of West Virginia, and the laid-back lifestyle of the people there. But all that green comes with a price, and I don't necessarily miss the rain and slogging through the mud to get the chores done. Oh, and I definitely don't miss the ticks.

I miss the farm, and the good company. There was so much to be done that I was itching to tear into, but I had to go away knowing I had used my time to the very best of my ability, and done what opportunity allowed. I'm a pretty respectable handyman and I think I'd make a good major domo. Too bad that job's not available in many places any longer.

But my businesses want my attention, and my family is close by, so I have more than enough to keep me busy.

In the end, it's all good.
