During my escapade in West Virginia, I made several mentions of
The Pigeon From Hell, a one-eyed demon spawn of Tophet who helped me with my chores by crapping on my hat and trying to peck me to death.
Pidgy and I had a good relationship:
Alas, I had word today that Pidgy has met his fate, ripped to shreds by one of the resident sheepdogs.
Bad dog. Bad dog.
In fairness, you can't blame Prynne for doing what dogs do - but it was a darn shame. Pidgy was a quirky bird, and consummately evil - but his owner took a real shine to him, and I found him one of the more interesting critters on the farm.
Well, such is life in the wild. He had a good home for a long time, and now he can frolic wherever birds go, with the benefit of two good eyes and all the grain he can eat.
Pidgy, we'll miss ye!
