RIP Pidgy

During my escapade in West Virginia, I made several mentions of The Pigeon From Hell, a one-eyed demon spawn of Tophet who helped me with my chores by crapping on my hat and trying to peck me to death.

Pidgy and I had a good relationship:

Alas, I had word today that Pidgy has met his fate, ripped to shreds by one of the resident sheepdogs.

Bad dog. Bad dog.

In fairness, you can't blame Prynne for doing what dogs do - but it was a darn shame. Pidgy was a quirky bird, and consummately evil - but his owner took a real shine to him, and I found him one of the more interesting critters on the farm.

Well, such is life in the wild. He had a good home for a long time, and now he can frolic wherever birds go, with the benefit of two good eyes and all the grain he can eat.

Pidgy, we'll miss ye!

You and Kathy will miss Pidgy. But I can't help but believe that Scott is more relieved than sad.

Well, that's what Kathy said too. She figured most folks would rejoice that the demon bird was gone...

I was ambivalent about da birdie. I'm not fond of pigeons, but I was also able to set aside my racism against Honey, as she's the most well behaved Chihuahua I've ever met. Not that I ever med Pidgy.

In the computer game Rama, a pterodactyl-like alien swoops past and your robotic guide says, "Did you see that? A pigeon from hell." I laughed aloud.

But I don't laugh at even bad birds getting massacred by canines. And Pidgy's cute name doesn't help.

Bad Dog all right.... slaughter and partial consumption of yer rodents and assorted avian species is the INALIENABLE RIGHT of yer working feline innit?

Its all about demarcation, brother...

IIRC, Kathy has no farm cats. And she's worried about Coyotes, but has not yet reported any sign of cougars.

Kathy has an entire pride of farm cats - two of them live in the barn, and they always left pidgy alone. Four live outside in the woodshed, and two live in the cabin with her mom...

If any of them are tabby or otherwise striped, then she'll have a streak. :)
