It's a special day, me hearties!

There was a young lady named Banker
Who slept while the ship lay at anchor;
She awoke in dismay
When she heard the mate say,
"Now hoist up the topsheet and spanker!"

Arr!

Writer's Block: It's not easy being green

[Error: unknown template qotd]
It isn't easy being green. My current residence doesn't offer a recycling service, and the nearest recycling station is miles away. So I always have a 30-gallon bag or two behind my door, waiting for a convenient time to head in that direction.

I pay a surcharge to Pacific Power to guarantee that all my electricity comes from wind sources, and in addition to Recycle, I try to practice Reuse and Refuse wherever possible.

Tollbooth Saga Update

Last May I posted about an unsettling experience I had with a NYC tollbooth agent. I didn't actually get a hardcopy letter sent to the Department of Transportation until last month, but yesterday I received a polite letter from Mr. Ing, indicating that the issue falls under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Transporation Authority (MTA), and that my letter was forwarded to them.

At least I'm on the radar. I just wonder if anyone really knows who is in charge of the Inwood Hill Park tollbooth and its personnel - the day the incident happened, I spent a couple of hours being bounced around from one agency to another, each one claiming that the problem was someone else's. One of those agencies was the MTA.

We shall see.
