Right off the top of my head, "Red Rubber Ball", written by Simon and Woodley, but never sung by Simon and Garfunkel until it had become a smash hit as covered by The Cyrkle.

There's a recording of Simon & Garfunkel doing the song live in 1967 which is better than the version that was a hit.

Yes! And I have it. Not sure if it's better, only because I'm so used to hearing the Cyrkle version, but it's very well done.
