Review: Wolverine

I have to face the fact that the movie has been getting bad reviews. Howard Tayler gave it a below average rating, and I respect his judgment.

That said, back on 11-2-2008, the daily Writer's Block asked what comforts I fall back on when the days are short, and the nights, long, dark and cold. My reply was:

"A good blood-n-guts / sword-swinging / explosions-are-many / bad-guys-get-ground-up action movie and a steaming cup of Pero - I think it's identical to Caro, or darn close. Fireplace if available. Cat in lap preferred."

So Wolverine, which I saw this evening, turns out to be right up my alley. It had everything I could ask for in an action movie, which I watch for the same reason I go on the roller coaster - to get my heart rate up. If I want culture, I go to the Louvre or watch a film like La Strada or L'été dernier à Mariendbad

I would have given it a straight "A" if there had been more Professor Xavier and more relationship stuff between Logan and his girlfriend. As it was, Grade: A-.

Good stuff! I enjoyed the other X-Men movies so was going to see it regardless of reviews.
I did enjoy Watchmen after all :)

Sounds like it'll be fun to see. Hm. So many bad movies. So little time!

We know you better than that, when you want culture, you go to the fridge and start looking past the 'two weeks and older' stratum.

Ah, yes. In my world, "best by" has an entirely different meaning, doesn't it... Image

Sounds like something I could take or leave. I have higher priorities for viewing.

That said, I don't always agree with the majority on comic book movies. I prefer Hellboy to Spider-Man 2, for instance.
