Pandora. I like the option of selecting an artist or type, and having the site suggest similar things. I've used Songza as well, but Pandora seems to be my option of choice.

This, of course, after XM Radio was absorbed by Sirius and started charging for the option of listening to my already-paid subscription on the web... the cheap blaggards.

I remember hearing about that a couple of years ago. I went hunting, and found the article and a copy of the original email to international users here (http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/05/02/pandora-to-shut-out-non-us-users-thursday-evening/).

After further research, from what I can tell, the company did - and has continued to do - everything it can in good faith to placate the monsters of RIAA and the horde of slavering Copyright Board attorneys, hungry for billable hours, but being a relatively small enterprise has failed to come up with a workable solution to the payment of fees for global broadcasting - although legislation has been passed allowing them to continue negotiations with SoundExchange for at least getting back to Europe.

From where I stand, all internet radio companies are dealing with the same issues, and it appears that the model may be doomed to failure. SoundExchange's demand that internet radio companies pay twice the royalty as satellite radio seems designed for one purpose only - to bring all internet distribution of music to a complete halt... and it looks like it may be succeeding.

By the fuzzy teats that Mogg nuzzled, someone much smarter than me needs to come up with a better model for paying musicians for their music, so that once it's released it can belong to the people of the world. Image

yeah there must be some way of doing it! I do my best to support local artists and will buy their stuff first before spending money on overseas ones, it's very hard to compete with the US flood of ... well... anything really.
