Carlin, NV: About 50 miles back is a dead critter. First one I've ever hit, & I hit it good.Underside of my front end is pretty torn up, mostly the plastic fairing ... but part of my grille was taken out, too.

Hqiz.

The good news... You can't see much from the outside, I'm uninjured, & I'm drivable. Things could have been much worse.

More reason to buy a Prius, that it withstood such a hit. (Japan makes great injury-resistant vehicles-- have I told you how my Honda faired a 70mph impact with a guardrail?) What size of critter was it, to do such damage?

And did you at least get to harvest some of the meat?

not good!
As long as there's no major damage to you, your passengers and the car then it's a good thing.

Never nice to hit an animal on the road but better to do so than to swerve from it and end up in front of another vehicle or sideways into something immovable.

"I'm uninjured"

There's the important one, it's a shame about the damage and the critter, but unfortunately these things happen. Glad you're ok.

Was the critter dead before you hit it?

Good question.
But yes, the personal undamagedness is the thing to be grateful for. Cars are just things, albeit precious (PRECIOUSSS! we is paying for it for effer yes sss we doessss! sssss!)

You need me to drive through there. I am the angel of death on the rabbit/jackrabbit population here.

I missed one deer over here by inches. It was over my hood. It shit all over my hood and windshield.

I clobbered a bird of some sort a few years ago on the way to a Site in the Alamo Indian reservation. Don't know what it was but it filled half the wind shield when I creamed it. It too shit all over the screen. I hit a roadrunner and two rabbits on the same trip.

One of the Laborers here clobbered a cow a couple months ago driving in. I drew picture of him with a bunch of t-bones on the front of his car. Best beef on the grill! =)

Glad to hear you came out OK.

You hit a jackrabbit right during the winter, you can clear all the snow turtles from all 4 wheel wells of your truck and soil the britches of the guy behind you.

Thump, chock wham bummby bump bump...(Screeee behind you) ;)
