Shared this with [livejournal.com profile] sleepyjohn00 by email the other day, and decided that it was not sufficient to limit the suffering to just one person.

This was both fascinating and painful. You can actually hear the quote marks around the word...

The speed at which our technology continues to advance, even in my own brief lifetime, is nothing short of breathtaking.

Yes indeed, tech has moved along so fast.

The change meant many traditional telephony workers had to adapt to meet demand.

Oh, that's choice. There was a day when phreakers could actually whistle tones into their blueboxes - but this cracked me up!

As a side note, it's interesting that "regulators" were looking at muzzling the net's anarchic nature early on. If there's something that could possibly generate a committee or spawn a bill, they jump on it like a buzzard on a dead cow. Thinking of the thermonuclear assholity going on in your fair land, it's a pity that so many years on, some people haven't learned their lesson yet...

Only thing technology does is put honest and not-so-honest toilers down the toilet!
I can remember whan all you needed to repair kit was a soldering iron, the foil of a cigarette wrapper, a six inch nail some chewing gum and a bl**dy great hammer.

Aye but there are pockets of stasis in the temporal fabric, if I'm not mistaken that's all Wizz uses to fix his tractors...

Wow, these guys were delusional about what it was to become! I love how the announcer slides "sex" into the list of topics, almost as though it's just a minor little addendum.

At least they got one thing right: the net has no real borders, except for administration of servers.

Very clever. Informative and humorous at the same time.
