Nothing but net!

Today's XKCD was both funny and spot-on. When something improbable works, the win can be huge.



I recall one of the greatest serendipitous (and insignificant) triumphs of my life, one day when I was in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Now, keep in mind that the device has not yet been conceived which can measure my indifference to team sports. You know that kid who was always picked last for games? Yeah, well I was always picked after him. If I was picked at all.


Open house at the Church administration building

I was coming out of our administration building one afternoon, and would have been standing right about where that thionite plant is, on the right side of the foreground. A bunch of our young men were playing a little pickup under the net, and one of them tossed me the ball and said, "Let's see what you've got."

Without missing a beat, I took my shot.

And yeah, the reaction was totally worth it.

LJ Archive - Miracles Happen

No more than three days ago, I posted my issue with LJ Archive, which no longer functioned properly. Hoping against hope, I opened a support request, and in the meantime, someone pointed out that if you turn off the "comment archiving", you could still archive your entries.

Today I received this notification:

Thank you for your report. This was a known issue caused by a recent code change, which has since been corrected. You should be able to export your entries at this time without issue. If you are still having trouble exporting, please comment back to this request and Support volunteers will investigate further.

I tried it, and sure enough - it's been fixed. The LJ support staff just went up an order of magnitude in my estimation.
