Urp! Thank you, Denny's!
Feb. 9th, 2010 11:26 amIf I hadn't watched the Superbowl ads on the web, I would not have known about Denny's promotion. From 6AM to 2PM today, a free Grand Slam breakfast for anyone who comes in. I see that they did this last year as well. This seems like a pretty effective way to get people in your door and advertise a business.
One blogger last year mentioned his experience last year, trying to get a free meal at 1:00 PM at a Denny's on the edge of the UCLA campus. He encountered a line two blocks long. Well, Duh... for something like that, you'd have to go early - especially when the words "free food" and "college students" are anywhere close to each other.
I went at 8:30 - my wait was only about 10 minutes long, and fortunately in the sun as the morning was chilly.
Not a bad breakfast for the price of a bit of gas and a two-dollar tip.
Thanks, Denny's - and I'll be back on my birthday, too!

... is the old standby hospital gown. Now, it appears that the trend is to provide gowns that don't strip away your dignity along with your money. And about time, too.

Of course, if it hadn't been for the universally-hated guaranteed moon, we never would have been treated to the "Dancing Harrys" in "As Good as It Gets"...
