If I hadn't watched the Superbowl ads on the web, I would not have known about Denny's promotion. From 6AM to 2PM today, a free Grand Slam breakfast for anyone who comes in. I see that they did this last year as well. This seems like a pretty effective way to get people in your door and advertise a business.

One blogger last year mentioned his experience last year, trying to get a free meal at 1:00 PM at a Denny's on the edge of the UCLA campus. He encountered a line two blocks long. Well, Duh... for something like that, you'd have to go early - especially when the words "free food" and "college students" are anywhere close to each other.

I went at 8:30 - my wait was only about 10 minutes long, and fortunately in the sun as the morning was chilly.

Not a bad breakfast for the price of a bit of gas and a two-dollar tip.

Thanks, Denny's - and I'll be back on my birthday, too!

I remember Dennys as being over-portioned greasy sugary endless fat food destined to send me to obesity.

Gee I miss it :-(

Ecxept the coffee. I don't miss the coffee.

Lol. Even though I'm no longer a coffee drinker, I concur that American coffee has very little going for it as a general rule.

Oh, how I loved my time in Naples!

As a breakfast should be. It should say to the world "There is nothing you can do that's worse than what I just did to myself."

That's like starting the day by swallowing a live toad. Nothing worse could happen to either of you for the rest of the day.

When we were in Boulder, and Dennys pulled this stunt, the line was two hours long. It seemed a steep price for pancakes. We were going to eat at a nice little diner anyway.

Indeed - had it been one of those two-hour lines, I would have thanked them for the thought and driven on!
