Timely information
Apr. 28th, 2012 04:24 pmThese two articles have caught my attention recently, given their appearance at a time when I am going through some [Ow!] testing and uncertainty regarding my own prostate.
The Independent brings to light a study that questions the effectiveness of prostate surgery as a cure. Yes, there are always questions to raise about any study - who paid for it, what did the sample look like, etc., etc. - And, the conclusion is something I've heard elsewhere from other medical sources. It is decidedly of interest.
The other article in The Telegraph describes highly-focused ultrasound treatment that appears successful in a large number of cases without debilitating side effects.
At the moment I'm waiting for my own pathology results to come back - and, I will be watching the future development of these questions with great interest.
