Prayers for Captain Phil

Captain Phil Harris of "Deadliest Catch" has suffered a stroke and is in a medically-induced coma.

"(Newser) – A captain from Discovery Channel's popular "Deadliest Catch" series was flown to a hospital in Anchorage after suffering a stroke. Capt. Phil Harris, 53, underwent a 12-hour emergency surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma. He was unloading the Cornela Marie in Saint Paul Island in Alaska when he collapsed, reports TMZ. The easygoing Harris stars in the reality show that features the crab fishing industry in the dangerous waters off Alaska."

Recover soon, recover completely.

Uch. From a griever's perspective, comas are especially bad by cutting off communication and leaving us to guess when, if ever, one recovers, and how fully. Harris has my prayer.

It was reported at one point that he was awake and talking, so (as wilorg et al. over at the OTC pointed out), the medically-induced coma may not be a bad thing. Still, a waiting game, and hard on his family.

*continues to send good thoughts to Phil and the boys*
