"(Newser) – A captain from Discovery Channel's popular "Deadliest Catch" series was flown to a hospital in Anchorage after suffering a stroke. Capt. Phil Harris, 53, underwent a 12-hour emergency surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma. He was unloading the Cornela Marie in Saint Paul Island in Alaska when he collapsed, reports TMZ. Recover soon, recover completely.

Or in the vernacular, "Bless me, for I have sinned."

It's time to have a long chat in the confessional, so I can walk around with a clear conscience.

[livejournal.com profile] bayliss posted a snippet about Sverre Hansen's memorial at Findagrave.com, and at that point the light went on.

These guys are the real deal. I had no clue.

As you may remember, I haven't had a TV for over 10 years, so I'm no longer in touch with much of popular culture, except for what I glean off the net. TV shows, however, tend to stay off my radar as more or less irrelevant.

I thought "Deadliest Catch" was just a show.

Well, my hat's off to them - what an incredible way to make a living, and to be able to deal with the fame at the same time. It all of a sudden explains the drooling. Huge respect to them!

Yeah, these Norske fiskere are impressive, and I'm a new fan.

I shall now eat some okra as penance...
