Google Wave, the PL/I of information sharing software (i.e. it tried to be everything to everyone), has gone the way of the dodo. When it came out, I took one look at it and had a nightmarish flashback to Vignette. And never used it. It appears that most other folks didn't use it either.

Well, Google has any number of smash hits and I'm sure there will be more in the future. Innovation is a risky game, and Google is not known for being tentative about promoting ideas. If only they'd come up with software that would paint my basement ceiling for me...

I'd have liked to use it more often, but as it was by invitation only, I didn't have many people to use it with.

And yes, it was very, very different from what people are used to, so that contributed greatly to its lack of adoption.

The fact that the intro video was over an hour long didn't help in any way, either...

The, eheh, wave of the future will be walls and ceilings that are essentially screens! A new color pattern will be just a few clicks away!

...Ahem. Today I read a few articles on past predictions of the future, now either here or very close, so I was inspired to facetiousness.
