Crooks of their caliber (as opposed to, say, Ponzi schemers) have no idea how important proofreading is. Even so, whoever heard of being allowed to claim someone's money without knowing the personal donor? And they couldn't come up with even a generic-sounding name for "a bank"?

Both are good questions! London has enough banks that this scammer could have just randomly chosen one. As for the name withheld part- Sorry, if the money was legit, then the beneficiary, at least can be told.
