Korean shop owners defended their stores and did not hesitate to return live fire when punks showed up with guns. The thugs ran like the cowards they always are.

The UK has nerf coated everything and holds no one responsible for anything. They have stooped so low as to arrest people who have defend home and family with weapons of any sort as that's the cops job.

I have no sympathy towards the Korean shopowners in LA. Didn't they attack a girl because she was trying to buy some orange juice, they thought she was shoplifting, she resisted, and they shot her?

I understand the sentiment and feel the same. However, one should not stop asking why it happened. Part of the answer can be found in this blogpost of the School of Politics and International Relation at the University of Nottingham. A lot of the violence could have been averted, had the youth been shown how to channel their anger into productive avenues. Instead, youth clubs where they can learn these skills (that should have been taught to them by their parents in the first place) were shut down. Don't get me wrong, those bastards are responsible for every single misdeed they've done. My point is that much could have been averted.

Nothing to argue with there. I believe the segment of society that perpetrated these actions felt alienated and disenfranchised; I also suspect there is much that could have been done that was not. That said, their choices were poor, and ultimately ended up damaging themselves and their own neighborhoods more than any message they thought they might be sending.

I don't think they have a message. That would imply that they have thought about their situation and this a solution. They "just" vent their frustration in one of the most destructive and counterproductive way. As it was put in a radio program over here: If you are poor in Britain, it is assured that you will stay poor, and so will your children and their children; there simply is no longer a prospect of climbing up the social ladder.
