My daughter Fortunata is a superb artist, and entirely self-taught. An example of her work is this segment of a mural she painted at a friend's home:

Early on, though, she took a stab at illustrating on the computer. The following delightful story, which gives cracks me up every time I happen across it, was done using MacPaint on a Macintosh LC in about 1991.
I present it for your gratuitous reading pleasure, in the hopes that the artist will not be too mortified by a public display of her early work.
