I long ago gave up making New Year's Resolutions because they were simply wishes, and not intentions. At this point I set written goals with action plans, declare them to others, find friends and associates to hold me accountable, and accept responsibility for the results. If I do what I said I was going to do, then the results show that my intention was clear. If I didn't get what I wanted, it simply means I didn't really want it bad enough.
When the intention is clear, the mechanism will appear.
Results: Often harsh, always fair.
