Aha. Finally a question that actually has meaning for me.

Native Language: English
Approaching native fluency: German, French, Italian
Can communicate easily: Spanish
Can communicate well enough to get thrown in jail: Gaeilge, Croatian, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic
Can understand most basic conversation, read without a dictionary, and communicate at a basic level: Portuguese, Dutch, Romanian, Norwegian, Catalan, Esperanto
Can read with a dictionary: Danish, Swedish, Greek, Albanian, Bulgarian, Serbian
Currently studying: Hebrew
Have worked with and have very basic ability in: Turkish, Lingala
Would like to learn: Hindi/Urdu, Maltese, Russian

A lifetime of work as a linguist, 2 years in Austria, 18 months in Naples, 6 months in Switzerland, and very plenty etc. These days it's become a hobby.

And yes, sometimes it's bloody hard to keep it all straight.
