Once when our kids were young, we won an all-expenses paid trip to Disneyland courtesy of "Kids Я Us". Included airfare. Budget level, but still nice - gave the kids the opportunity to go.

In 1985, I won a trip to Australia to present a paper at the Australian Wang User's Society, as the prize for the best user paper at the American conclave. Took my son along, and we had a fabulous week in Canberra. Yeah, I know, it's not the most exciting city in Oz, but it was in Oz, and we had some really fun experiences there.

I haven't participated in many contests since my school years. Back then I won some honors in spelling, poetry, science, and math. The only thing I recall winning since, tying for first, is a low-profile art contest. Nothing in lotteries or raffles.

Actually Canberra is quite an attractive city. It's where the politicians live, so it's the cleanest and most aesthetically arranged city in all the nation - It's where the federal politicians live, go figure!

My aunt & uncle were living in Canberra in the 80's. If you and I had known who each other were we could have met up.

Canberra is also a short jaunt by road to the snowfields.
