3 pounds of acorns, plentiful among the scrub oak this year. These shall be processed in to acorn flour, and used for pancakes and biscuits. Cooking With the Old Wolf shall document the process shortly.

I enjoy cooking as a hobby, but lately I haven't taken the time to do as much - I've had too much else going on. The most recent things I've made were a delightful pasta primavera with fresh home-grown spices and fresh-grated romano cheese, lots of garlic and olive oil, and a loaf of Irish soda bread. Simple but most satisfying. Since I haven't a garden at the moment, most of my veggies are frozen organic ones - my challenge in buying fresh veggies is to use them before they go funny.

Last time I went to the grocery store, I came through the checkout line with:

1 box of Raisin bran
A quart of skim milk
2 bananas
1 red lettuce
1 tomato

The girl at the checkout said to me, "You must be single!" I asked her, "You can tell that from what I'm buying?" She said, "Nah, it's just that you're really ugly..."

Over at the Confusion Couch, forumites share not only comments pertaining to Pibgorn and 9 Chickweed Lane but also joys, fears, hopes, successes, triumphs, tragedies and, not least of all, recipes.

Kalahari Knight, one of the loyal Order of the Couch, took it upon herself to compile all of the submitted recipes to date into the First Pibgorn Cookbook, which is a fair competitor to any such volume compiled by a Ladies' Club or Chautauqua. It includes a couple of gems submitted by the artist himself, the most honorable Brooke McEldowney.

Enjoy!
