About four strips ago, I commented in r_caton's journal about what I saw as possible outcomes:

Not too many solutions here.
* Shirl gets her consciousness raised (not bloody likely)
* Ben gets mad and tells Shirl to find another doctor
* Ben tries to keep the peace and alienates Julian
I vote for No. 2, unless Jenner can pull something else out of his hat.

That said: Notice how cranked Ben got over the 'If you had a kid of your own' comment? Maybe that's what "I've found her!" was all about, a week or so ago?

Luvverly possibility! That would play nicely into why he's so reluctant to tell Dani what's up. Hope we find out sooner than later, I've got no nails left to bite off...

Good thing he runs a private practice and can refuse to serve a patient. Too bad the cute little numbat boy won't be around anymore.

You know, I've gotten so used to the presence of gays that when Ben expressed surprise that Julian's lover was a he, I initially wondered what caused his surprise. It struck me that Ben might have been getting in touch with his own gay side, which would explain why he's taken his sweet time about moving the relationship with Danielle forward... and why he was looking at a dating site. But I doubt that'll happen. It's too sweet a romance to turn into a friendship.

A single-doctor private practice is marginal. If the Stupid family can turn enough of Ben's patients away from him, he's toast.

You may be used to the presence of gays, but there's a hell of a lot of world that isn't. Maine, for instance. :(

Funny how people assume homosexuals will inevitably become child abusers, but no one assumes the reverse. That may be the secret to the Catholic priesthood's survival.

Shirl may well cause a stir..... and with Lil likely to blow herself up with fags and oxygen mask, and probably close to dying with her ciggy addiction....
Perhaps there will be a family crisis with Lil or Jarrad...

BUT are we going to see retribution dealt out to the thugs?

That "Kid of your own" remark definitely pushed a button.... even kicked it into the panel...
