It's a Wonderful Life is wonderful indeed... about once every five years or so. If you have to suffer through 25 broadcasts of it each Christmas season, it can begin to cloy. Unless you throw out your hypnogourd, and watch it on DVD when you choose. I'm about ready to see it again, along with Gone with the Wind - it's been about 10 years since I've seen either of them. A good interval.

Of all the Christmas movies out there, I think A Christmas Carol tops my list, and I can't decide if I like George C. Scott or Patrick Stewart best. Both gave heartwarming performances. The original story is probably one of the greatest works of fiction ever written, in my book.

Other favorites, in no particular order:

Miracle on 34th Street
The Bells of St. Mary's
The Bishop's Wife (1947)
Mr. Krueger's Christmas
Scrooge (1970, Thank You Very Much!)
White Christmas (1954)
Small One (Disney - 1978)

Happy watching to you all, whatever you may choose!

I don't know what my favorite is. Maybe one of the many adaptations of ACC, which I can't entirely keep straight. I assume movies that take place on or near Christmas but have practically nothing to do with it, like Die Hard, shouldn't count. (IaWL gets a pass because of the angels.)

I do know my least favorite: Holiday Inn. Too little plot, and too much racism.
